
: Saturday , July 14, 2012 The Iowan Farmhouse Ale It's been way too long since I blogged and I have no real excuse for it . A quick note before the farmhouse : ale I finally feel like I nailed an apricot beer . As I mentioned in my last post , I brewed an apricot wheat for my children's birthday party . It was very well received , and suprisingly I was happy with the turn out I'm my own worst critic , as I'm sure most homebrewers are I finally bottled the last of it last night so I could free up keg space for the Iowan . What I took from the beer turnout was this : if you want to hammer home the apricot flavor , similar to how Pyramid Aprico t does , you need to do both the puree and all 4 oz of the apricot extract at kegging bottling . Apricot is too delicate and can get lost , so go big
